Who is the skills lesson for?
This session is designed for women and gender-diverse folk aged 18+ who want to learn football basics in a supportive, safe, and non-judgemental environment.
You might be:

Completely new to football

Returning after a long break

Keen to build confidence before joining a team

Looking to move your body and meet new people
No experience needed. No pressure. No expectations.
What do I need to bring?

What will happen at the skills lesson?
Our WFC coaches will guide you through:

Basic ball control and dribbling

Passing and movement
-
Simple game understanding
-
Playing in a small, supported game environment
The focus is on learning, confidence, and enjoyment, not performance.

Note: we will have one introductory level covering the basics of football available on the day
You do not need to attend the skills lesson to play in the tournament — it’s completely optional.

You can just turn up on the day or you can register here to let us know you're coming!
Thinking about joining the tournament after the lesson?
If you enjoy the session on the day and feel keen to play in the tournament in ther afternoon, we may have limited individual spots available. We’ll do our best to help you join in if we can.
5-a-Side Women’s Football
Social Tournament

A 5-a-side social tournament with space for beginners, returners, and experienced players.
You do not need to attend the lesson to take part in the tournament!
Note: This is the same weekend Executive Cup and Kelly Cup for Women's Prems and Women's Central League takes place
Who is the tournament for?

Women and gender-diverse folk aged 18+

Beginners, returning players, and seasoned social footballers

Teams or individuals (free agents welcome)
👉 You do not need to attend the skills lesson to play in the tournament — it’s completely optional.
We offer two divisions:

Social – beginner-friendly, lower intensity
-
we recommend those who are new or returning to football or are playing in Capital Football Women's 3 or 4 to enter this division

Social-Competitive – social and higher-intensity, faster pace and more competitive

we recommend those currently playing in Capital Football Women's 2 or above to enter this division

You’ll select your division when registering.

Women's Football Centre (WFC) -Affiliated Rates

Only the person registering needs to be WFC-affiliated to access the affiliated rate.

FAQ
Do I have to attend the skills lesson to take part in the tournament?
No — you don’t have to attend the skills lesson to play in the tournament. The skills lesson is completely optional.
I’ve attended the Women’s Football Centre in previous years — do I still qualify for the WFC-affiliated rate?
Yes! Just use the same email you previously signed in with at the Centre when registering. If you're not sure which email this is, reach out to us at contact@womensfootballcentre.org.nz and we'll be able to help you out.
Do I need to sign up/register for the skills lesson?
Not at all! Registration is completely optional — but we’d be stoked if you did :)

Can I join the tournament after the skills session without registering ahead?
Yes — individuals may be able to join on the day if there’s space. However, teams will not be able to join on the day.
WFC-affiliated individual rate applies of $24 per person
Advance registration guarantees you a spot.
Will the tournament still be on if it rains?
The tournament will still run in the case of rain.
If the weather is unsafe to play in, we will cancel the tournament and all teams and individuals will receive a refund. Credit/Debit Card service fees will not be be included in the refund. This call will be made by the morning of the tournament and refunds processed within two weeks of the tournament.
